Eric James Medlar

Eric J. Medlar, age 46, Stanton, died December 24, 2012 at his home.

Eric was born June 22, 1966 to Robert Arlend Medlar and Opal May (Rohn) Medlar Fugitt in Carson City, Michigan. He married Angela Nummer, September 19, 1997.


Eric was a lifelong area resident and was employed installing underground irrigation. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed mushrooming and hunting. He also loved music and played the guitar.

Eric is survived by his wife, Angela of Stanton; daughter Kylie Jo Medlar of Stanton; his mother, Opal (Albert) Fugitt of Greenville; father Robert Medlar of Greenville; brothers, Robert Medlar Jr. and Kirk Medlar both of Greenville; step sistersand Kim Sims; and stepbrothers Sean Fugitt, John Fugitt, Greg Fugitt, and Jeff Fugitt.

A memorial dinner will be held in honor of Eric, 2pm, January 4th, 2012 at the VFW Hall in Belding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Angela Medlar. Condolences may be left for the family at http://www.bardenfuneralhome.com/

The family is being served by the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton.

Marjorie Ann Burton

 Ann Burton 85 of Ithaca passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Carson City Hospital. She was born May 9th, 1927 in Elwell to Edmund and Lottie (Worthing) Smith. She married Seaver Burton in 1946. Annie was a homemaker, owner/operator of Newark Beauty Shop, worked at Gratiot Community Hospital, and also Gratiot Commission on Aging.

 Ann is survived by a sister, Mary (Carl) Wheeler of Carson City, brothers William (Marcella) Smith of Sumner and Lee Smith of Alma, a sister-in-law Maxine Smith of Sault Ste. Marie, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Seaver Burton, son David Burton, sisters Hildred Holmes and Helen Demoray, brothers Robert and John Harold Smith.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, December 29th, 2012 at Barden’s Funeral Home in Ithaca. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rosewood AFC.

Thomas Paul “Tommy” Smith

Tommy Smith, age 4, of Crystal, died December 11, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Tommy was born June 22, 2008, in Carson City, the son of Travis Joesph and Sarah Ann (Lake) Smith. He loved tractors, cows and snakes. His favorite color was John Deere Green. Through Make-a-Wish he lived his dream of being on stage in concert and singing Red Solo Cup with Toby Keith. He loved books and would pick books over toys when given a choice. Tommy loved to go hunting and fishing with his dad, and going shopping with his mother. He loved his sister and brothers.

Tommy helped his grandmother save a calf rejected by its mother, and helped feed it and nurse it to health. They named the calf Nugget.

Tommy is survived by his parents, Travis and Sarah Smith; his brothers and sister, Trent Moreland, Ethan Smith and Alicia Smith; his grandparents, Ed and Carole Peacock of Shepherd, and Ed and Marie Avey of Crystal; his great grandparents, Ken and Donna Knapp of White Cloud, Jane Avey of Carson City, Larry Lake of Stanton, and Esther Peacock of Shepherd; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton, with Pastor Ried Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Crystal Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Philip Floyd Cameron

Philip Floyd Cameron, age 71, of Ithaca, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012.  Phil was born on August 15, 1941, in Rochester, Michigan, to Loyd and Dorothy (Evens) Cameron.  Phil graduated from Alma High School in 1959 and married Judy Grandy in October, 1961, at Ithaca Baptist Church.  He worked at Detroiter Mobile Homes in Alma,  RL Grandy Construction and Cameron Builders.  Phil helped build or remodel several homes in the area.

Phil is survived by Judy, his wife of 51 years, and their four sons; David and his wife Ranaye of Sherwood, Arkansas, Peter and his wife Sherry of Galt, California, Jonathan and his wife Chris of Lakeside, Ohio and Andrew and his wife Cathy of Ithaca.  Phil, also, is survived by his brother Samuel Cameron and wife Marilyn of Houston, Texas, 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John Cameron and James Cameron.  Phil was a member of the Ithaca Baptist Church where he was active in Youth ministries, Awana and the Church bus ministry.  He suffered from Huntington's Disease and lived in the Laurel of Fulton Nursing Home for the last several years. 

There will be a Celebration of his life held on December 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Ithaca Baptist Church.  If you are unable to attend  but have a memory of Phil you would like to share, please email them to pfcameron1@yahoo.com 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Michigan Huntington's Disease Support Association or to the Ithaca Baptist Church (donation envelopes available at the church).

Willett Bernard Raynor

Willett B. “Bill” Raynor, age 84, of Stanton, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Bill was born April 12, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of William and Eleanor (Roesler) Raynor. He retired from the US Army as operations Sergeant. He then worked in a factory producing computer parts. He spent many years in Florida where he enjoyed the outdoors, the water and sunshine, mowing lawns, sports, the casino, and taking naps. He was a avid fan of the Buccaneers, Devil Rays and Dolphins. He was an animal lover, loved to watch people, and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Raynor, of Stanton; and stepchildren, Penny Moss of GR, Robin (Avanell) Moss of GR, Boyd (Sandy) Moss of KY, Ann (Edward) Pastizzo of GA, David (Julie) Westbrook of Stanton, Susan (James) Sturtevant of Sidney, and Ted (Ursula) Westbrook of KY; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Evelyn McWilliams of Hastings. He was preceded in death by Malissa Raynor and his granddaughter Crystal Greding.

Funeral services will be at high noon Thursday, December 13 at the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton with Pastor Kurt Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Florida. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
