Arlene Elizabeth Flegel

Funeral Services will be held at Ithaca Church of God in Ithaca, MI on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 11am-12pm, with Pastor Tom Whitsel and Pastor James Conn officiating the service. Burial will take place after the service at Ithaca Cemetery. Following the burial service the family is asking that friends, family and guests attend lunch at the Ithaca Church of God. Visitation services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Barden’s Funeral Home in Ithaca MI.
Arlene was born in Fulton, MI on April 24, 1939 the daughter of Lavina Nelson and Reuben Olson. She graduated from Fulton High School with the class of 1958. Arlene Olson married Cleo Flegel on August 15, 1959 at the Fulton Presbyterian Church. Arlene resided all of her life in Ithaca, MI.
Arlene worked for Wolverine Work Wide Shoe Factory in Ithaca for four years prior to starting her family. Arlene firstly enjoyed being a wife and mother. She also enjoyed going to church, spending time with friends and family, cooking and canning, and spending summers with her children. For over 15 years she also enjoyed having her own daycare and watching as many as 30 different children over those years.
She is survived by her husband, Cleo Ivan Flegel of Ithaca, MI; son Gerald Flegel and Chrissy Archer of Alma MI; son Ron Flegel and Tina Mancini-Flegel of Baltimore, Maryland; son James Flegel and Lauri Ann Smeltzer Flegel of Dewitt, MI; 6 grandchildren: Matt and Amy (Wheeler) Flegel, Kyle, Nicole, Mitchell, Eric, and Lauren Flegel; 2 great grandchildren; Brayden and Easton Flegel of Shepherd, MI; sisters Eva Cecil of North Star, MI, Dick Olson of Ithaca, MI, Faith and Andy Mikulka of Pompeii, MI; and David Moore of Alma, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Virgil Olson, Perry (Junior) Moore and grandchildren Michael and Kayla Flegel.
