Beverly Berry

Our beloved mother, Beverly Berry, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2018 at Masonic Pathways in Alma.

Mother was born Beverly Dorene Hoard, on July 18,1930, in Bethany Township, the daughter of Lester I. and Bernice E. (McFarlane) Hoard.  Beverly attended Melba Beauty College in Lansing, and became a licensed Beautician.  She owned and operated Beverly’s Beauty Shop in Ithaca, where she raised her family.  She loved going to yard sales, knitting, and crocheting, working in her yard, and tending her rose bushes.  She enjoyed sitting on the porch at Laureen’s house and watching the wildlife.  She especially loved her children and grandchildren and the time she was able to spend with each of them.

Beverly is survived by her four children, Lesta (Rich) Chiarilli of California, Michael (Glenn) Berry of Sebastian, FL., Lisa (Joe) Hernandez of St. Louis, and Laureen (Bill) Baxter of Alma; seven beloved grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her brother, Carlisle Hoard of Battle Creek; and her sister-in-law, Zellie Hoard, of Ithaca.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Milton Hoard, and her parents.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.  Interment will follow in Lafayette Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Friday, September 7, at the Barden Funeral Home.  Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.

Lesta, Mike, Lisa and Laureen and families.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your Mom was such a sweet neighbor and always stopped to visit while she was out walking with her fur baby. I remember spending afternoons after school at your house and how busy she was in her hair salon. Always wished I had the get up and go and the energy she had. May your many loving memories bring you comfort during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
