Arlene May Kinkead
Arlene M. Kinkead, age 80, of Ashley, died thursday, March 23, 2017, at Sparrow Carson City Hospital.
Arlene was born March 1, 1937, in Ashley, the daughter of Art and Leota (Morse) Robbennolt. She graduated form Ashley High School in 1955. She married Glenn Kinkead on January 25, 1958, in Temple, MI. She worked at Redmond’s in Ithaca before becoming a stay at home mom. She also took care of her nieces and nephews, earning her the nickname “Nanny.” They still affectionately referred to her as “Aunt Nanny.” She had a wonderful spirit about her, always helping out those who needed it. She loved gardening and canning what she grew. She also enjoyed baking zucchini bread, kolachies, and nut rolls. She loved feeding the birds and stray cats which came in her yard. She loved playing cards with her friends and grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her life. In her giving way, Arlene has donated her body to the U of M medical school.
Arlene is survived by her husband of 59 years, Glenn; her children, Coleen Ritenburgh of Alma, Loretta (Doug) Schneider of Ashley, Son-in-law Rodney (Ellen) Mills of Sumner, Son-in-law Mike Ritenburgh of Ithaca, Deb of Texas; her grandchildren, Amanda (Tee) Huot of Spring, Texas, Andrew Mills of Alma, Kelseigh (Dan) DiTrapani of Alma, Jessi Abbott of Holland, Kaileigh (Zach) Moffett of Ithaca, Jenny Abbott of Holland, Becky Schneider of Ionia, and Hunter Schneider of Ashley; her brother, Carl (Margie) Robbennolt of Ashley; her brothers-in-law, Doug Kinkead of Ithaca and Larry Kinkead of Ithaca; her sister, Darlene Evans of Ashley; her sister-in-law, Betty (WInston) Miller of Louisville, GA; special friends and neighbors, Barb Bywater of Ashley, Jack and Carol Kidder of Ashley, and Vicki Schaffer of Riverdale; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Michael and John; her great grandson, Zack; her parents; her sister, Irene Rohn; and her brother, Lawrence “Whitey” Robbennolt.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses at Carson City Hospital, especially Jill, Tami, and Julie. You treated us like family. Greatly appreciate the care you gave to our mom and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
A memorial dinner will be held at the Ashley Community Center on April 8 from 1-4. Please bring your memories.
