I am very sorry to hear that Kenneth passed. I have very fond memories of him and Phylis. When I lived in Beebe and would walk to town pulling my son in his red wagon, Phylis said Kenneth would plan to drive in that direction so he could give me a ride in his truck. He didn't think I should walk all the way to town. Then it seemed he just happened to be traveling in my direction again when I would head back home. Phylis and Kenneth were very special people to me. Phylis came to me for years to have her hair done weekly. I was blessed to have the two of them in my life.

I grew up next door to Kenny. I can't remember a time in my youth when he was not there. And all my memories of him are good ones. I feel deeply blessed to have known him. I spent many, many great days working along side this very special man on the farm. In so many ways, that neither of us at the time could've realized, he positively influenced me during that young period of my life. In short he was exactly what all boys growing up need and few have : a great role model. I recall routinely walking across the pasture that seperated his and Phylis' home from my folks house ; I'd stroll over there so often, looking for fun and rural adventure. Through it all I always knew I was welcome there. Kenny always seemed truly glad to see me; often envolving me in whatever work he may have been doing (it seemed all fun to me, cows and horses !), thereby giving me a sense of real worth, and early on instilling a good work ethic deep within me. He taught me how to rope a calf - I still have that lariat that he gave me hanging proudly on the wall in my home (a true treasure) - he showed me how to sit a horse, and ride like a real horse-man. I can still see him out there riding Dakota Sue ropin' a calf that had got loose, I'd "shoo" it over his way and he'd throw that ol' rope right over it's neck. He sure could rope n ride with the best of the cowboys ! There are so many wonderful memories, but I'll stop here. I will miss that man, my early mentor (rather almost like a second dad to me), my friend. There are very few people I'd honestly consider a hero in any sense of the word, but without hesitation I'd firmly state that as a kid growing up when and where I did, Kenny is indeed one of my heros, and always will be. I will never forget him, and how much he has meant to me; I am a better person for having known him.
