Brion D. Ruehle

Brion D. Ruehle went to sleep in Christ on December 15, 2021. Brion was a 1975 Ithaca High School Graduate and an avid and passionate outdoorsman and orchard culturist.

Brion married his high school sweetheart and soulmate Diana (Fell) Ruehle in 1977. He was “Hero” to his two precious daughters Cortney Ruehle and Teela Ruehle. Brion worked at General Motors for 32 years while he and his wife farmed the Ruehle Centennial Farm part-time. 

Brion is survived by his wife Diana Ruehle; his daughters Cortney and Teela Ruehle; grandchild Ellie Pratt; and his sisters, Brenda (Dewayne) Marcy and Bonnie (Tim) Gustavison. He was preceded in death by his parents Romaine and Adah Ruehle and his brother Brent Ruehle.

The family will gather for a memorial to Brion’s life with friends at 1pm on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the north end of Ithaca Cemetery. In honor of Brion, memorial contributions may be given to American Forests (https://give.americanforests.org/ways-to-give/memorial-gift-trees/).

Michelle Renay Jones

Michelle Renay Jones, 56, of Elwell passed away on April 14, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Michelle was born November 29, 1965 to Shirley Jones in Pontiac, Michigan.

Michelle loved spending time with her five grandchildren. She enjoyed time with her daughter and siblings.

Michelle is survived by her daughter Brittany (Josh) Howe; five grandchildren Jayce Bristol, McKenzie Howe, Julia Howe, Alyssa Howe, Teagan Howe; siblings Annette (Marty) Morford, Sheila McMullen, Sheri (Clyde) Miller, Karen Cronk, JoAnn Partington, Michael (Becky) Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; grandparents; son Travis Ray Myers, brothers Bruce McMullen, John McMullen, Danny McMullen; and sister Alice McMullen. Also her loving dog Zoe girl.

There will be a celebration of life at the Pine River Recreation Club (5527 N. Ferris Rd., Riverdale, MI 48877) from 2pm until ? on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

David P. Martin Sr.

David P. Martin Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on November 27, 2021. David was born in Ashley MI on August 17, 1939. He married his High School sweetheart, Betty J Lilly, on July 2, 1960. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He worked hard as a carpenter/construction worker. In his free time he enjoyed boxing, bowling, square dancing, and motorcycles with his wife and friends. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, guns, boxing and his family.

David was preceded in death by his parents Ceil and Mabel Martin, siblings Isabella Kellicut and Barnie Martin, son David P. Martin Jr.

David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty J. Martin, son Steven LJ Martin, siblings Jack and Jean Kirby, Evelyn Parling, John and Pat Martin, and Maurice Conners. Grandchildren Philip and Caitlin Karson, Mary Jane and Michael Volk, Natasha Fortier, Rebecca Martin, and Sarah Wrath. Along with 7 great grandchildren and many family and friends.

A memorial lunch-in will be held on May 3, 2022 at 11:00a.m. in the Maple room at Shepherd Bar & Restaurant in Shepherd MI. A brief burial service will be held at Pritchard Cemetery on Pingree Rd in Elwell MI at 9:30a.m.

Joseph D. Greer

JOSEPH D. GREER, 92, passed away on Feb. 13, 2022 in Zephyrhills, FL. Joseph was born on March 23, 1929 in North Star, Michigan to Joseph C  and Elsie M (Perdue) Greer.

Joseph grew up in North Star, MI and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1947 where he was the only 4 lettered 4 yr athlete to graduate at that time. After graduation Joseph joined Consumers Power Co. as a lineman in Alma, MI then relocated to Clare, MI and retired after 37 yrs attaining supervisory capacity in Traverse City, MI.

Joseph married Beatrice Glover on June 30, 1950 in North Star in the home of his parents. They were married for 71 years. Joseph was a member of the Travers City, MI Eagles and the Lake Ann, MI Lions Clubs. Joseph enjoyed working with the Lions Club where he earned many awards and was a constant at the pancake griddle for their money raising breakfasts and facilitated a great golfing venue for the club. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting and fishing (holding the state’s record for largest Rainbow Trout caught for many years) and during his younger years participated in softball, bowling and golf. He also was coach for the Clare Little League in the 60’s.

Joseph is survived by his spouse Beatrice of Traverse City, MI; his 3 daughters; Debra Greer of Traverse City, MI, Yvonne (Ollenburger) of Grand Blanc, MI and Lisa (McKinnon) of Fenton, MI.; his sister Mary (Richard Moubray) of Diamondale, MI and brother Rocky (Daria) of Ithaca, MI. ; his grandchildren Kristina Caldwell, Kari Bignell, Lance Grim, Allison Smith, Amanda Greer, Jessica Miller, Ashley Reynolds, Allen Ollenburger, Lindsi Johnson, and Jeffrey Mckinnon. His great grandchildren Mikayla and Skylor Grim, Kaedon, Kyle, Devon, Kennedy Greer, Drew & Dylon Miller, Dominic, Mackenzie Reynolds, Grady, Griffin Johnson. His great great granddaughter Ava Grim as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Joseph C. and Elsie M. (Perdue) Greer, his son Joseph D II, brothers Francis, Dennis, sisters Mollie and Mona, grandson Robert Mckinnon, and great granddaughters Rena and Reanna Grim.

A funeral will be held at Barden’s Funeral Home , 225 W. Center St., Ithaca, MI at 11:30 am Saturday April 23, 2022. Visitation will be held prior to service starting at 10:00 am. Burial will follow the funeral at North Star Cemetery.

Jason Isaac Spencer

Jason Isaac Spencer, 44 of Duluth, Georgia unexpectedly went home to be his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 23rd, 2022 at Northside Hospital Duluth, Georgia. Jason was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 27th, 1977 to Gerald and Jacqueline Spencer.

Jason graduated from Lowell High School in Lowell, Michigan. After high school, Jason worked for Leica Geosystems from 1996 to 2021. He dearly loved and cherished time with his two children. He was a loving and dedicated son, brother, and father. He did enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and mountain biking.

He is survived by his two children: Sylvia and Ian Spencer and their mother Laura, father, Gerald Spencer, and mother, Jacqueline Spencer; siblings: Jessica Spencer, Joshua (Nick Myers) Spencer, Jared (Heather) Spencer, Aunts and Uncles: Daniel (Nancy) Arens, Dale (Linda) Spencer.

Jason also is survived by his nephews Isaac and Alexander Olson and niece, Isabelle Olson, he is survived by many cousins and close friends and his beloved cat Timmy.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Ruth Spencer; Harold and Leloa Wieczorek, and Aunt, Janet Wieczorek.

It’s more important than ever that his family hears stories and memories of Jason’s legacy through the eyes of those who loved, and cared about him.
