Michiel William Daley

Michiel William Daley, age 83 of Ithaca, passed away on November 20th, 2021 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Visitation will be at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Tuesday November 23rd, 2021 with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in St. Johns following the service. 

Michiel was born on February 18th, 1938. He is the son of Jeremiah and Leora (Paget) Daley. He married Helen Thomas on June 16th, 1962. 

Michiel served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the State of Michigan in 2004. 

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen (Thomas) Daley, his children Shannon (Darcia) Daley and Kathleen (William) Silvers, and grandchildren Ethan (Lane) Silvers, Dylan Daley, Ryan (Kayla) Daley, Megan Silvers, Mary Silvers, and great-grandchild Liam Daley, his birthday buddy. He is also survived by two brothers Gordon (Betty) Daley of Rodney, MI and RIchard (Bea) Daley of Anaheim, California

Lynn Richard Dicken

Lynn Richard Dicken, age 83 of Ithaca, Michigan, passed away on November 19, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born to William Robert and Marvel (Barnes) Dicken on May 15, 1938 in Summerdale, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Lynn graduated from Ithaca High School in 1956. He then married Kathyrn Hoffer on September 12, 1958. They had three children, Andy Dicken (Rhonda), Jody and Randy Freed, and Jerry Dicken. Surviving are his wife Kathy and their children; his brother Bruce and Mary Dicken; grandchildren Samantha and Matt Porter, Keshia and Eric Stowell, Kellie Dicken, Tyler Dicken; great grandchildren Ares, Persephone, Osiris, Porter, Gracin and Kaid Stowell, and Jacob Feichtenbiner.

Lynn started working for C&S Steel in 1981 and retired in 2012. He was a welder fabricator. He enjoyed antique tractors and tractor shows, going to several each summer. He also enjoyed collecting toy tractors.

Special thanks to the hospice group Elara for all their care during his final hours. Cremation has taken place with arrangements being handled by the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Cards may be sent to the Dicken Family at 335 S. Ithaca St., Ithaca, MI 48847.

Manuel Rodriguez Jr.

Manuel Rodriguez Jr. was born November 15, 1957 to Manuel and Jan Juana Rodriguez in Davis, Oklahoma. Manuel grew up in San Benito, Texas where he attended San Benito High. Manuel came to Michigan as a migrant worker. His family would come every summer for work, then where he started a family of his own. He always had a smile on his face and loved to brighten one’s day. He’d crack a joke to see you smile - and it always worked. He enjoyed fixing cars and just about anything else he knew he would. Manuel enjoyed listening to Mexican music, where he’d sing and dance, loved watching John Wayne Western movies, and his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. He always wanted to be with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife Julia C. Rodriguez of Alma; his children Alicia (Gilbert) Liguez of St. Louis, Manuel (Robi Jo) Rodriguez III of St. Louis, Gabriel (Tracey) Rodriguez of Alma, Catarino (Jillian) Rodriguez of St. Louis, Xavier (Alyssa) Rodriguez of St. Louis; his grandchildren Josie Keyes, Jacelle (Dacotta) Christensen, Enrique (Cynthia) Garcia, Gilbert (Mya) Rosas, Alejandro Rosas, Mya Rodriguez, Jozellen Rodriguez, Joshua Rodriguez, Gabrielle Rodriguez, Carleigh VanHorn, Stevie Jo Porsch, Isaiah Rodriguez, Salem Rodriguez, Adonis Rodriguez; great-grandchildren Aliciana Keyes, Kristian Keyes, Kaydee Keyes, Lyonel Garcia, Lucas Garcia, Marcus Garcia, Ricky Garcia, and Oceana Rosas. Manuel is also survived by his seven siblings, sisters, Maria Alicia Castillo from Denton, TX, Viola Rivera from San Benito, TX, Virginia Rodriguez from Rio Hondo, TX, Mercedes Sauceda from Harlingen, TX; and brother Juan D. Rodriguez from San Benito, TX.

Funeral services for Manuel will be 11am Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Visitation will be held 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Monday, November 22, at the funeral home.

Laura R. Allen

Laura R. Allen, age 91, of Ithaca, passed away November 16, 2021 at Schnepp’s Senior Care Center in St Louis.  Visitation will be at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca on  Friday November 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 with funeral immediately following.  Pastors Dave Jewell & Cheryl Davis will officiate.  Burial will be at Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd.

Laura was born in St Louis on December 5, 1929.  She is the daughter of Fredrick and Mable (Peppers) Jones.  She married Cecil Allen on June 21, 1946.  He preceded her in death on June 6, 1992. 

Laura almost always went to jobs with Cecil when he worked on the pipeline.  From the bitter cold in Canada, to South Carolina, to California and many places in between.  Around 1961 Cecil decided to start his own business and Laura was a big part of that.  Answering phone calls, taking orders for sand and gravel and other work.  She also took care of the billing and bookwork.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and spending time with the grandkids.  There are several of her afghans and baby blankets around the family that she made with love for those who received them.  She was a member of the Free Methodist church in St Louis.  She is survived by her sons, Wayne of Ithaca and Mike (Sue) of Ithaca.  Grandchildren Josh, Aleasa, Morgan and Mariah, Jennifer (Jonathan), Brian (Renee), Gregory (Jordynn), Dann, Chelsea and Shelby (Trevor).  Also, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  Sister Ruth Meyers, sister in law Doris Jones, brother in law Maynard Allen (Mary Ann), and sister in laws, Marilyn Allen and Rebecca Allen.  

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers, Charles, Henry and Lyle (Renata), sister Isadora (Jerry) Daymon and an infant brother and sister.  Also,  brother in laws, Duane (Frances), Denzil and Romaine Allen.

Memorial contributions are requested, in lieu of flowers, to Gratiot County Commission on Aging.

William T. Jorgensen “Tom”

William T. Jorgensen “Tom” was ushered into the arms of his Savior on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 at the age of 89 years old.  Tom was born Feb. 25, 1932 to William A. & Margaret U Jorgensen. He graduated from Stanton High School and served in the Army during the Korean War.  He returned home to farm along side his father and then to take over the family farm.  After selling the farm years later he worked several places, a couple of his favorites were Spud Pak and working for Spencer Farms.

He was preceeded in death by his parent and his wives; Marilyn in 1978 and Sandra in 2004.  He is survived by his sister, Mary Anne Ealy, Children: daughter, Donna (Chuck) Currier, Son, David (Faye) Jorgensen, Stepson, John (Cathy) Steele, Stepson, Chris (Kristi) Steele, Stepson, Robert (April) Steele,  Grandchildren: Kevin (Kristy) Currier, Jeff (Lesley) Currier, Greg (Isabella) Currier, Matthew (Phiona) Jorgensen, Rebecca Jorgensen, Aaron (Michelle) Steele, Lauren (Colton) Schaap, Cameron Steele, Adam (Heather) Steele, Allison Steele, Rebekah Steele, Bethany Steele,  there are 18 Great Grandchildren with one on the way.  Also, a Brother in Law, Jim Foster, Brother & Sister in Law, Rick and Marilyn Hansen, and Sister in Law, Neesa Raha, along with many Nieces and Nephews.  

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Church 415 N. Mills St. Stanton, MI 48888 on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021 at 5pm, the family will receive visitors from 4pm to 5pm.  This service will be live streamed for those unable to attend through Trinity’s Facebook link:  www.mytrinitychurch.com.
