Ruth E. Sierakowski

Ruth Evelena (Fritz) Sierakowski, 68, of Ithaca, left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 30, 2015. Ruth passed away at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI with her family by her side.

She was born in Saginaw, MI on June 16, 1947, the daughter of Rolly and Mary (Brown) Fritz. She went to school in Saginaw, MI through her graduation from Arthur Hill High School. On August 24, 1968, she married Dennis V. Sierakowski in Saginaw.

She held various jobs throughout her career before dedicating the last 16 years at IAC in Alma where she was a proud member of the United Steelworkers Union Local 2-540. There she had a multitude of friends and family who have cared for her and her family very deeply.

During this time in her life, she and Dennis moved from their home of over 40 years in St. Charles, MI to Ithaca, MI in order to be closer to their family amongst other reasons. She was a dedicated member of the Ithaca Wesleyan Church for nearly 40 years. A word from Ruth: “The things that make me happy are church, my kids, my grandbabies, my great grand baby, people in general, fun, jokes, my siblings, camping, Indiana trips (with her sisters), earning wages, tithing back to the Father, all children, smiles, laughter, my pets, Vacation Bible School, singing, making someone else happy, and even rain – especially when we get a rainbow after it.” Ruth had a passion for children. She was known as “Grandma Ruth” at church. The children would always go visit with Grandma Ruth after church where they were sure to get a piece or two (or sometimes a whole pack) of chewing gum. She loved others more than she loved herself. She wanted the best for her kids and would do whatever it took to make it happen even if it meant denying herself. “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” –John 15:13. Ruth’s desire was to pattern her life after the ways of the Lord so that others would also pattern their lives in that same manner. Ruth was the epitome of love. Ruth is patient, Ruth is kind. She does not envy, she does not boast, she is not proud. She is not rude, she is not self-seeking, she is not easily angered, she keeps no record of wrongs. She does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. She always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (I Corinthians 13:4-7)

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Sierakowski of 47 years; two daughters, Denise (Skip) Blohm of Breckenridge and Dana Spencer of Sumner; two sons, Douglas (Misty) Sierakowski of Sumner and Dan (Heidi) Sierakowski of Owosso; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Cody, Kaitlyn, and Cassidy Blohm, Zak, Todd, and Michele Spencer, Rachael and Lillian Sierakowski; one great-grandchild, Sidney Spencer; three sisters, Judy (Jim) Perry of St. Charles, Bert (Joel) Shelden of Freeland, and Pennie (Dick) Fritz of Saginaw; one brother, John Fritz of West Branch and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rolly and Mary Fritz; her brother Rolly (Nancy) Fritz Jr.; grandson Casey Blohm; and one great-grandchild, Dakota Spencer.

The family will receive visitors on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Ithaca Wesleyan Church 712 N. Pine River St. from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 4:00 PM at the Ithaca Wesleyan Church with her beloved Pastor Douglas A. Strait officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Ruth’s memory be made to the Ithaca Wesleyan Church to go toward the building of a playground area at the church in her memory.

Dear Doug & Misty, Rachael & Lily, and Ruth's entire family,
As stated above, "Ruth was the epitome of love." Always giving of herself, always willing to put others first. Heaven became a little brighter with Ruth's presence. Gary's mom had become acquainted with Ruth years ago at North Star Nazarene, and she absolutely adored her. Now they are in heaven rejoicing together. The grief is overwhelming right now, but as each day passes, you will be able to think of your Mom and Grandma with a few less tears and with more smiles and laughter. She will always be in your hearts. What a legacy she has left for all of you and for generations to come. You are in our prayers during this time. We love you all.
