Roy Arwin Killinger
Roy Arwin Killinger was born Feb. 24, 1944 to Pauline Killinger and the late Alden Killinger in Fowlerville, Michigan. He passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at his home. He was the oldest of six children including Janet (Ed) Moon, Alice (Dave) Killinger, Wini (Ron) Green, Alden (Patty) Killinger, and Laura (Tom) Mackie who survive him along with his wife, Cathy, of 47 years, and five children: Linda (Dan) Atkinson-CO, Carol (Vic) Killinger-MI, Max (Jeannette) Killinger-UT, Charles (Emmy Lou) Killinger-UT, and Theodore (Leslie) Killinger-UT, as well as nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He worked for Coca-Cola, General Motors, Alexander Hamilton Life Insurance., The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lakeview Public Schools. He owned a dry cleaners in Mt. Pleasant and a handyman service that included roofing, plumbing, painting, and electrical. He had a very strong work ethic and continued working mowing several lawns and a cemetery after retirement. Currently he was the Township Treasurer for Winfield Township.
Roy loved the outdoors. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America for 39 years. Roy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Greenville, serving as bishop and in many other callings. He loved God and his family and his country, and believed in freedom, hard work , and free enterprise.
There will be a memorial service in Roy’s honor 11am, Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Greenville. Bishop Rodney Rackham will preside, visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service. The family requests memorial donations to the Roy Killinger Family Fund at Community First Federal Credit Union in Lakeview.
