Margaret Jean (Shunk) Zamarron

Margaret Jean (Shunk) Zamarron, age 79, of Ithaca, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Schnepp Health Care Center.

She was born on March 4, 1932 in Ithaca, the daughter of Charles and Doris (Cornell) Shunk. She married George Zamarron on March 19, 1951 in Angola, Indiana. Jean worked at Wolverine Shoe Factory and area restaurants. She was a great cook and famous for her amazing pies. She loved playing Yahtzee, bowling, spending time with friends, and watching baseball and NASCAR.

Jean is survived by her husband George; her children Debra Berry of Manistee, Randy (Judy) Zamarron of Ithaca, Patti (Kipp) Braman of Ithaca, Bob (Shelley) Zamarron of Ithaca, Becky Showalter of Midland, Cindy (Kyle) Nash of Gladwin, Rod (Robin) Zamarron of Jenison, and Rick Zamarron of Salt Lake City, Utah; 21 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son Billy Don Zamarron, her parents Charles and Doris Shunk, siblings Kenneth Shunk, Phyllis Martineau, and Maynard Shunk.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 27, 2011 at 11 am at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Jules Spleet officiating. Burial will be in Fritz Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 25, from 6-8 pm, and Sunday, June 26, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot Commission on Aging, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Schnepp Health Care Center, or Gratiot Medical Center.
