Dorothy Elaine Rhines

Dorothy Rhines age 93 of Ithaca passed away on August 25, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen and her son Keith Rhines. She will be greatly missed by her brother Alfred Silhavy and family, and her sister Helen Smith and family, and her daughter Sharon Riggio; grandchildren: Keven (Kyle), Kraig, Dominic, Kelsi (Jamie); and her great grandchildren Vita, Roman, Monty, Kali, Alyssa, and Kendrick. 

Dorothy was a passionate teacher at Ithaca Elementary for many years. She was also proud to be an Ithaca Foster Grandparent.

Albert E. Adams

Albert E. Adams, age 66, of Ithaca, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Alma.

Albert was born March 16, 1955 in Florida, the son of Stanford J. And Marjorie (Rogers) Adams, Sr.  He worked as an auto mechanic and enjoyed watching the news, drinking coffee, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Albert is survived by his children, Joshua (Sasha) Adams, Cassandra (Edward Sink) Mader, and Amber (James) Stevens; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, Nancy Dempsey, Deborah Bradshaw, Stanford John Adams, Jr., Denise (Mike) Wade, David Adams, Allen Adams; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Beach.

A memorial service for Albert will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Reed County Park, 381 E. Johnson Rd., North Star, MI, at pavilion 1.

Arlin Phillip Strong

Arlin Phillip Strong,66 of Sumner Michigan was born April 6, 1955 in Edmore, Michigan. He went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2021. Arlin helped maintain the family-owned farm until early adult life then went on to own and operate his trucking business, Strong Trucking, for the next 36 years. Arlin “Rooster,” was a dedicated semi-truck driver and renowned for decades in the tri-state area. Arlin enjoyed summers camping with family, fishing, & taking care of farm animals. He invested much of himself into his family’s home. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, & friend to all who knew him. His children & grandchildren were his greatest source of joy. Arlin cherished his time spent with them all.  Arlin is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne, of more than 32 years, daughters Dana Strong, Stacy (Jay) Jiles, Nicolle (Aaron) Burnell, Ollivia (Jeffrey) Macha, sons Matthew (Trasi) Strong, Levi Strong, 15 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

Gary Lynn Sanders

Gary Lynn Sanders, age 71 of Middleton, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 8th, 2021 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Gary was born on June 13th, 1950 in Alma, Michigan the son of Ronald and Maxine (Proctor) Sanders. He graduated from Ithaca High School. Gary served in the military after high school. He worked at GM in Lansing, Michigan where he retired.

Gary enjoyed hunting, watching wrestling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by his friends and family.

Gary is survived by his wife Georgia (Spade) Sanders; his children Lynnissa (Wayne) Gibson, Anthony Sanders, Danielle Sanders, and Brian Sanders; his step children Charles Andrews III, Mary Andrews, James Andrews, and Amber (Matthew) Hoffer; his siblings Bonnie Medved, Larry Sanders, Cindy Sanders, and Wendy Sanders; his grandchildren Alexander, Jordan, Gracelyn, Pearl, Jaylyn, Emilia, Isaiah, Keagan, Kinslee, Amariano, Masie, Hudson, and Rose.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Maxine, his brother Terry Sanders, his sister Elaine Piper, his brothers-in-law Fred Piper, Les Piper, and Robert Medved.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Maynard Gene Failing

Maynard Gene Failing was born in the doctor's office over the dime store in St. Louis, Michigan on Oct.30, 1934.

He married his high school sweetheart,  and wife of 68 years, Joyce Myers on August 8, 1952. 

He worked at the Michigan Chemical plant, served  in the National Guard for 12 years, was a trucker for many years, then retired from the Michigan Corrections Food Service. He was also a rancher and horseman.

Many people will remember  that he traveled the area in the summer in a pioneer wagon and beautiful horses. He went by the name of Salt Lake Sam, and his friend,  Fred  McCloud was Flatcar Fred.

Maynard and Joyce also served a one year mission  for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nauvoo ,Illinois. Maynard drove wagon teams and told pioneer stories.

Maynard was preceeded  in death by two baby boys, Mark and Matthew, his brothers,  Carlos and Deward, a grandson, Cameron, and his parents, Dewey and Edna Failing.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce, sons Maynard  Scott  Failing, Jared Failing,  daughter Cindie Alldredge.he has 18 grandchildren,  and 19 great grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint in Greenville, Michigan.
