Timothy W. Hersey

Timothy W. Hersey, age 57, of North Star, died Friday, October 28, 2011.

Tim was born November 17,1953, in Alma, the son of Harry Richard and Mona B. (Greer) Hersey, Jr. He was raised in North Star, growing up with all the neighborhood kids, and graduated from Ithaca High School in 1972. He worked for Frigidaire for 27 years and then drove truck for 7 years. 

Tim bought, remodeled, and lived in the house in North Star which his grandmother had lived in. He enjoyed building and creating things with his hands. He also liked to spend time outdoors, fishing, and hunting, and he really loved motorcycles.

Tim was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his wife, Glenna; his children, Mindy Jo Hersey of Winn, Chanda Jean Hersey of St. Louis, Nathan Wayne Hersey of St. Louis, Rachel Stark of Detroit, Amanda (David) Engle of Greenville, Laura Lake of Kalamazoo, and Jessie (Doug) Billings of Sidney; 7 grandchildren; his brothers and sister, Harry (Judy) Hersey III of Vestaburg, Randall S. Hersey of Lincoln Park, and Judy A. Hersey-Phillips of Lakeland, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2011, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Randall S. Hersey officiating. Interment will follow in North Star Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 Sunday, October 30.

Terry Lee Bovee

Terry Lee Bovee, 62, of Ashley, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at home.

He was born in Gratiot County on July 24, 1948, son of Richard and Beverly (Cassady) Bovee. He married Sylvia J. Brooks on July 29, 1997.

He served in the United States Army in Vietnam. He worked for General Motors 39.6 years as skilled trades, repairing the big machines. He loved going up north hunting and fishing and also playing cards with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Bovee; daughter Lisa (Marc) Ridge; son Derek Bovee; stepdaughter Sally (David) Gardner; stepson, Samuel (Nancy) Brooks; 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one brother Chris (Konnie) Bovee; 2 sisters Deb (Mike) Wood, Jane (Craig) Snyder. 

He was preceded in death by his wife Tony (Miles) Bovee; parents Richard and Beverly (Cassady).

Funeral Services will be held at Ithaca Seventh-day Adventist Church on his birthday, July 24, 2011 at 2:30 P.M., 935 North Pine River, Ithaca with Pastor Jerry L. Drummond officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ithaca Community Service Center where he helped out every Tuesday from 8 to 12 noon.

Stanley S. Kava

Stanley S. Kava, age 84, of Stanton, Michigan passed away quietly at his home on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011.

Stanley was a veteran of WWII. He worked for the Ford Motor Company, retiring after 30 years at the plant in Livonia. He also loved the outdoors, spending time with his family, and was a great practical joker. He will be greatly missed.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josephine; 11 children; 34 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters; and several extended family members from his home state of Pennsylvania.

Funeral services for Stanley will be 1pm, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton, with Pastor Larry Pike officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 11, from 5-8pm and Saturday, February 12, from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.

Sister Mary Monica

Sister Mary Monica died peacefully on October 15, 2011, at the age of 86.

She is survived by her brother, Harrison Wood, who lives in New Jersey. 

Sister entered the institute of the Religious Sisters of Mercy on September 24, 1977, and made profession of perpetual vows on April 27, 1982. For many years, Sister Mary Monica was the archivist of the Religious Sisters of Mercy at their Motherhouse in Alma, Michigan. She also collected stamps, receiving many as gifts from friends. 

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 19, 2011. 

Services are being provided by the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.

Sidney Bruce Wesenberg

Sidney B. Wesenberg, age 89, of Alma, formerly of Lansing, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma.

Sid was born in Harrison, Michigan, February 6, 1922, the son of William F. and Ida (Buerge) Wesenberg. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores.

Funeral services for Sid will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Newark Church of God in Christ - Mennonite. Interment will follow in Hayes Road Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
