Ernest Paul Rozen, Sr.

Ernest P. Rozen, Sr., age 85, of North Star, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Warwick Living Center in Alma.

Ernie was born October 3, 1924, in Ashley, the son of Joseph and Mary (Cermak) Rozen. He married Beatrice Lillian Bare on November 2, 1946, and they spent 61 years together. Together they had three sons. Ernie served in the Navy during WWII aboard the USS Drayton in the pacific corridor. After the service, Ernie worked at Motor Wheel and farmed. Having tired of factory work, he became an agent for Texaco and then Zephyr Oil Co. delivering home heating oils and farm fuels to homes and farms in southeast Gratiot, Clinton and Saginaw Counties. Beatrice helped him run the business, Rozen Oil Co., from their home for over 40 years. Ernie was a lifetime member of the Ithaca VFW. He enjoyed bowling, and had sponsored different bowling teams over the years. Ernie and Bea both enjoyed going to and selling at flea markets all over Michigan and Florida. They spent 25 years wintering in Florida, where they made many friends.

Ernie is survived by his sons, Larry of Portage, Ernest Jr. (Joann) of Mentor, Ohio, and Terry (Jeanie) of St. Charles; his sister, Arlene Emery of Flushing; his brother-in-law, Clarence (Jean) Bare of Ithaca; his sister-in-law, Alice Bare of Ithaca; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea on July 8, 2008; his parents; his brothers, Milton and Noreen Rozen and Joseph and Betty Rozen; his sister Evelyn and Joseph Pelc; and brothers-in-law, Earl Emery, Earl and Glendora Bare, and Willis and Betty Bare.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 22, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Ried Martin officiating. Interment will follow in North Star Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday. Donations may be made to the VFW or to Warwick Living Center.

Erline Ilo Clark

Erline Ilo Clark, 91 of Alma Died Saturday March 5th 2010 at Laurels of Fulton in Perrinton.

Born March 31st, 1918 to Rollie Teachworht and Leah Kirby in her grandparents home.
She married Arthur Bruce Clark on leap year day February 29th 1936. 

She is survived by three daughters June Shutes, Donna (Alvin) Hipolite of Ithaca, Joy Peak, one son Arthur (Kay) Bruce Clark Jr. of Alma, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. One brother R D Teachworth, and one sister Jean Wood.

She is preceded by her parents, her beloved husband Bruce, one brother Ora Teachworth, one sister Nellie Heckman, and one granddaughter. 

She accepted Jesus into her life when she was a young girl and from then on Jesus was always a part of her life. She joined the Advent faith and became a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church, were her greatest joy was teaching the young children about stories from the Bible.

She lived her whole life in Gratiot county where she was a housewife, rising four children and helping her husband that ran a Black Smith shop and after that helping him at his dream of farming.

She enjoyed the outdoors, the simple things like the wind blowing in the trees, the birds singing, the warmth of the sun. She enjoyed sharing those things with children, teaching them to enjoy and respect nature well.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.

Eloa Joan Felton

Eloa Joan Felton, age 80, of Ashley, Michigan died November 12, 2010, at Ashley Care Center surrounded by her family.

Eloa was born on May 13, 1930, the daughter of Dewey and Beulah (Kimmel) Coleman. She lived all her life in Gratiot County, the last 65 years in Ashley. She married Claud Manford Felton, May 25, 1946 in Ithaca, Michigan. She enjoyed going to garage sales, bingo, doing crossword puzzles and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (George) Skorna, and sons, Fred (Jan) Felton, Tom (Arlene) Felton, Walt (Sue) Felton, Claude (Pam) Felton all of Ashley, 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Claud, brother Kenneth Coleman, sister Lorna Mikus, and her parents, Dewey and Beulah Coleman.

Funeral services will be held at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 1 pm, with Chaplain Charles Krueger officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Great Lakes Hospice in her name.

Dwight E. Morris

Dwight E. Morris, of Harrison, died December 23, 2010 at his home.

Per Dwight's wishes there will be no public services, burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Alma.

Dorothy Elnora (Nieman) Fairchild

Dorothy Elnora Nieman Fairchild was born July 31, 1944 to William and Mary (DeYoung) Nieman. After a long, courageous battle with leukemia, she is joining her parents, Bill and Mary, her sisters Judy and Bethy, and brothers Russ and Billy in Heaven.

She married the love of her life, Mike Fairchild on April 25, 1970. They were blessed with six children: Pam Schooler (life partner Janet Slawson) of Chicago, Illinois, Triena (Fred) Mellen of Breckenridge, MI, Sandra (Bud) Kirvan of St. Louis, MI, Rhonda Post of Detour, MI, Mike (Shelley) Fairchild of St. Louis, MI, and Michelle (Brandon) Bailey of Breckenridge, MI. 

Dorothy enjoyed re-upholstering furniture, reading, and sewing. She also enjoyed doing crafts, running dogs with Mike, and spending time with her 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband Mike, her children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her siblings: Thelma Nicewander, Berneda (Richard) Shattuck, Dick (Deb) Nieman, Bob (Kitch) Nieman, and Carolyn (Ken) Brown.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 11 AM at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Joseph Barden officiating. Burial will be in the North Star Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be given to the family.
