Susan Ellen Latham

Susan Ellen Latham of Stanton passed away peacefully after a long illness on July 24, 2018 in Carson City. She was born in Pontiac to Charles and Laura (Odell) Latham.

Susie led a colorful life with lots of sparkles! She was a model that appeared in magazines, newsprint, and television. She danced and sang off and on Broadway. She was also an avid animal enthusiast and handler supplying animals for advertising, film, and the Metropolitan Opera House. She also rode horses on stage at the Met for many seasons. Susie never did any job that wasn’t glamorous!

She will be missed by her sister, Judy Guevara (formerly of Stanton); her nieces and nephews Ronda Allen, Laurie Latham, Charles Latham, Abigail Guevara Hansen, and Osvaldo Guevara, and John Guevara.

Memorial services will be 1pm Sunday, July 29, 2018 at St. George Lutheran Cemetery in Brighton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Mid-Michigan, Stanton.

The family is being served by the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.

I am so saddened to learn of the passing of Susie. We were friends from our college days to our days after I moved to New York and after I'd moved back to Michigan. We had some good years as friends and it's hard to say goodbye. RIP my dear friend, you will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news today. I met Susie in Central Park 1977 when Kenny took some great photos of her. Her photograph from college was on his wall for like forever. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family I am sure. RIP Susie, you are beautiful.

I was saddened to hear of Sue's passing. I had no idea she had fallen ill. I knew her from our days at Wayne State, and remember how vibrant and talented she was. It was great to see her at a reunion a few years ago. My condolences to her family.

We had just talked about Sue at our planning meeting for our 50 Year High School Class Reunion and I heard she was very ill. So very sad to then see the news she had passed away. Way too early in life. I have many fond memories of playing with her in elementary school and going to her house where we would do swan dives on her older sister’s bed. I had always hoped to see her again. Sending all her loved ones my deepest sympathy.

I was so sad to hear of Susie’s passing. She was such a vibrant, talented, wonderful person and I was fortunate to have known her. I loved hearing her stories of working at the Met, and enjoyed the children’s book written about her dog who “sang” in the opera. What a fantastic life she had! I wish I had known that she was ill and could have seen her again, but look forward to seeing her in the Lord’s presence someday. May He comfort each one of her family members in this difficult time.

Susie was great fun and Lily Tomlin spoke warmly of her upon learning we'd gone to high school together. Susie was working a stint as a singing waitress the last we met forty five years ago in New York and alhough we lost contact, our love affair never ended. Falconnaires Forever

My sincerest condolences to Susie’s family and friends. I am so sorry to hear of Susie’s passing. I didn’t know her for very long like some others, but we had some adventures and I will always remember her stories of her life in New York. She was a gutsy lady and lived life to the fullest. Rest In Peace, dear Susie.

I just read about Susie’s passing and am so sad to hear that she was ill. She and I first met at Mrs. Evelyn Kreason’s dancing school and shared dance classes for several years. We also had a shared passion for horses. High school band was the only class we shared at Farmington High School. We did not remain in contact after graduation, but I have thought of her often over the years. Condolences to all of her family. P.S. I also remember having her sister as my art teacher at East Junior high.

I was a childhood friend of Susan’s, but had not seen her for a long time. Laura and my mother, Doris, had been high school friends in Fenton. Time spent at the family cottage, all of the family animals, classes at the YMCA when her mom, Laura would take us to McDonald’s for a hamburger on the way home. When I was in Michigan summer of 2019, I refound the family home and this morning composed a historical letter to Susan hoping that I could get it to her. I am so sorry and shocked by her death and send my sympathy to all of the family. Molly Mikelson Schwitzer
