Douglas G. Pendell
Douglas G. Pendell, age 69, of Ithaca, long known for his unique wit and humor, passed away with his family by his side at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant, on May 16, 2017.
Doug was born in Alma on February 29, 1948, the son of Kenneth and Barbara (Bennett) Pendell, and was a lifelong resident of Gratiot County. Doug graduated from Carson City High School in 1966 and explored a number of jobs before settling into a career as a truck driver. If he wasn’t driving his truck across the country, he was building, racing, and rebuilding his beloved ’62 Impala. He pursued both circle track and drag racing with his lifelong friends (or co-conspirators). In his later years, Doug continued to pursue his hobby of restoring classic cars.
Doug is survived by his daughters, Leigh Ann (Kirk) Olson and Carla (James) Patrick; his grandsons, Eric, Joshua, and Dane Macha and Jacob Patrick; his granddaughter, Katie Ann Patrick; and his sister, Kathy Pendell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marla Carey-Pendell; his parents, Ken and Barb Pendell, and his brother, Bradley Pendell.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Dave Perry officiating. Interment will be in New Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 18.

The Kiser's & the Pendell's lived about a mile from each other.
We all rode the bus together. A wonderful family.
Doug was a great guy. I will keep the family in my prayers.
