Roger Allen “Bud” Howes

Roger A. “Bud” Howes, age 79 of Ashley passed away February 6, 2017 at Carson City Hospital.

Roger was born July 7, 1937 to William Henry and Zella Birdella (Flegel) Howes in Ithaca, Michigan. He married Joan Studt February 18, 1978. Roger was a great athlete in high school. He enjoyed family get togethers and playing cards at the fire hall. He also enjoyed flowers and spending time outdoors tending his flowers. He loved model trains and had a collection in his basement. He was known for his good nature and great sense of humor. Roger deeply loved his grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife, Joan; children Tammy (Dave) Kimmel of Ashley, Buddy (Liz) Howes of St. Johns, Charlie (Amy) Howes of St. Johns, Debbie (Jim) Galloway of St. Johns, Bob (Jodi) Studt of Ashley; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters Karolyn Hoffman of Mt. Pleasant and Kathy (Tom) Kanitz of Centerville, Ohio; and brother Stan Howes of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife Janet Haruska; parents Bill and Zella; brothers George and Bill Howes; and sister Annie Hamp.

Funeral services for Roger will be 11am Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Pastor Phil Harris will officiate and burial will follow at North Star Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-8pm Thursday, February 9 at the funeral home. 

Memorial contributions may be given to the Village of Ashley Country Christmas Fund.

Bud was special & touched many lives over the yrs, many we may never know. As his toddler baby sister, 17 yrs age span, I always wanted to marry him...he was kind & patient. Many cherished memories to hold dearly! Thank you all for sharing yours with us. Kathy, Circleville, Ohio.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was such an awesome guy, and I never saw him without a smile on his face. He was absolutely well loved and respected in the Ashley community, and he will be missed.

I'm really gonna miss Bud Howes so much ,because he always made me happy every time I was with him. He's definitely one in a million of people on this earth. When I visited you today you looked so peaceful and I knew you were with God in a better place.

Bud was the greatest. Make up a game and in no time he'll beat you. Was always the best friend to everyone and you were always welcome in his home. What kid didn't want a squirrel monkey running loose in the house? Loved you Bud and will never forget those great years we had together
