Joe Cook

Joseph William Cook, age 57, of Ithaca, died peacefully, with his family and close friends by his side, at Mid Michigan Medical Center in Midland, on Monday, December 7, 2015.

Joe was born on May 31, 1958, the son of Herbert Gerald “Cookie” and Delores Eleanor (LaCross) Cook.  Joe graduated from Ithaca High School in 1976 where he held several sports records.  After High school he went to work for Aircraft Precision in Ithaca, and has been with them 38 years.  Joe was very social and loved people, hosting parties to watch sporting events, and inviting family and co-workers up to the family cabin at Harrison to enjoy reunions and get togethers.  He enjoyed buying, selling, and collecting sports cards.  Joe also traveled to numerous sports cards events and had his picture taken with different sports figures, like Willie Horton and Dave Rozema.

Joe is survived by his sister-in-law, Cheryl Cook, of Ithaca; his nephews, Nathan (Jessica) Cook of Louisiana, Ryan Cook of Harrison, and Blake Cook of Jackson Lake, TX; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Cookie and Dee; his brother, Lynn; and his sister, Rebecca.

Funeral services will be 2:30 Friday, December 11, at the Ithaca Church of God, with Pastor Ried Martin officiating.  Interment will follow in Ithaca Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Ithaca Church of God.  Online condolences may be left at bardenfuneralhome.com.
