Bernard “Lyle” Mills
Bernard “Lyle” Mills, 82, of Sheridan passed away on Thursday April 17th, 2014 at home.
Lyle was born on December 31, 1931 in Perrinton, MI to Bernard W and Beulah (Howe) Mills.
He married Ann Marie Viles on August 17th, 1957 in Perrinton and they were together for 55 years before she passed on January 22nd, 2013.
Lyle served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict receiving a navy occupation service medal, china service medal, national defense service medal, and a good conduct medal. He also was a Life Member at Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 Sheridan, MI.
Lyle was preceded in death by Ann, infant son, Bradley (1960), his parents, son-in-law and daughter Paul (2006) and Cheryl Mangus (2007), brother Gordon Mills (2008).
Lyle is survived by his children Bryan & Kathy Mills of Lake Mary, FL, Michelle Mills of Greenville, grandsons Matthew & Bill Mangus, Travis Teusink, Todd (Nicole Sly) Teusink, Craig & Tracy Patterson, Kelvin Patterson, several great-grandchildren. Brothers and sisters Glen & Marilee Mills of Middleton, Fern Schmid of Perrinton, Dorthann & Kenny Teed of Pompeii, Dewayne & Lorraine Mills of Ithaca, sister-in-law Ellen Mills of Frankenmuth, aunt Elaine Butler of Grand Ledge, many nieces and nephews, with special thanks to Tim Funk and family.
He could fix most anything. He worked in different jobs over the years, but the one he truly enjoyed was his time at Greenville Middle School as custodial and maintenance.
Lyle liked to encourage his children and grandchildren to experience the out of doors, hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends.
Always had a story and would talk and visit with anyone. Ann used to laugh how he could go somewhere and he would have a friend when they left.
An open house for Lyle’s life will be held on Sunday June 22nd, 2014 starting at 2:00pm at the Sheridan VFW, a memorial service will start at 3:00pm with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating.
