With great sadness we announce Dwayne Jay Schaub, age 61, of Sumner, Michigan passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 28, 2022. Dwayne was the son of Dale Schaub and Dorothy & Ramon Peiffer. He grew up in the Alma area and attended school in Alma and Vestaburg. Dwayne and his high school sweetheart, Tina Hindenlang, moved into their home in Sumner in 1977. Dwayne’s greatest accomplishment and joy was the family he and Tina started together. He and Tina were married on March 30th, 1985.

Dwayne started working at a young age as a farmhand. He had many skills and talents he developed over the years from the many jobs he had. Dwayne had experience building silos, construction work, capertenertry, machinanic work, DNR volunteering, electrician work, farming, and gardening. He was a hard working man and creator. The last few years as Dwayne bravely battled cancer, he took on the project of remodeling his home and giving his bride her beautiful bay window. Dwayne was always finishing a project and dreaming up something new.

Nature and the outdoors was very important to Dwayne. Mushrooming, camping, canoeing, dirt bike riding, and big footing finding were common adventures to find him on. On time Dwayne swung like Tarzan through the woods to find out later his Tarzan vine was in fact poison oak. He was the life of the party and knew how to have a good time. Things like music, good food, and visiting were simple things Dwayne found joy in. His life was rich and filled full of friends and family.

Dwayne loved his family very much. His children and grandchildren brought him pride and joy. A son, Steven (Jessica) and daughter, Bobby Jo and four wonderful grandchildren, Abagail and Jezebel Schaub, Laura and Brian Tessman will be missing him greatly. Dwayne fought very hard to beat cancer because he wanted to enjoy more time with his family.

He was preceded by: his parents, a step-brother Chris Powers, his father-in-law, Donald Hindenlang, his sister-in-law, Sheri Church, and beloved friend Gary Wilson. Dwayne is survived by cherished wife, Tina, children, Steve and Bobby and his precious grandchildren. Also surviving is mother-in-law, Joyce Hindenlang, step father, Ramon Peiffer, siblings, Dana (Donald) Wood, Debbra (James) Weiland, Darren (Bethany) Schaub, Charlene (Tom) Bigelow, Pamela Hindenlang, Betty Jo (Bill) Searle, Wayne Hindenlang, Doug (Denise) Hindenlang, Beaver Hindenlang along with many other nieces, nephews, and beloved friends and family members.
