Maxine Ruby Sowles (Ma), age 83, of Stanton passed away Tuesday June 17, 2021 at her home with family by her side.  Maxine was born September 13, 1937 in Blanchard Michigan to the late Reuben and Beatrice Chubb.

On October 9, 1954 Maxine married Dale (Pa) Sowles, they were married 50+ years before Dale passed away.  They raised 2 wonderful daughters Debra and Julie”Chic” Sowles.    Maxine worked for Knights Auto Sales for a few years before becoming a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband Dale’s business Dales Auto Parts. 

Years ago Maxine was known to make a nice big lunch with many different people at her table daily consisting of family and friends.  She loved to play bingo, go bowling, go to the casino, and spend time with her family.  Maxine loved watching children and was “GRAM” to all of them she knew.  Her door was always open to anyone who needed a meal, a place to stay, or a sitter for their children. She was loved by many and the best “Gram” around.  

Surviving Maxine are her daughter Julie Sowles , grandchildren Heather Butler (Greg Anderson), Ryan Alexander (Nicole Putney) , great-grandchildren Kiara Ackley, Gunner, Fisher, and Jerzey Hill, Addison Putney, Trigger and River Anderson, and  great-great granddaughter Blaike Ackley, sister Ellen (Charlie) Litwiller, brothers Fred (Linda) Chubb, Wayne (Sue) Chubb, and special niece Jackie Everingham, as well as many more friends and family.

Maxine is preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents Reuben and Beatrice Chubb, daughter Debra Sowles-Corwin, brothers  Maurice(Bonnie) Chubb, Eldon(Barbara)Chubb, sisters Laura (Roger) Sowles, and Ardith (Jake) Vaughn.

A visitation and funeral will take place on Tuesday June 22, 2021 at the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton. Visitation will be from noon-2pm with the funeral following at 2pm. She will have a graveside service at McBride Cemetery with a Luncheon to follow at the Stanton American Legion.
