Joyce Ilene Shepard (Hetherington)
Joyce Ilene Shepard (Hetherington); age 87; of St. Johns, Michigan passed away at Hazel Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns, Michigan. Joyce was born April 7, 1933 in Winn, Michigan to the late Winifred (Humphrey) and Vern Hetherington. Joyce attended Shepard High School. Joyce worked at Wolverine Shoe Factory in Ithaca, Michigan and later enjoyed 27 years at Oldsmobile in Lansing, Michigan retiring in 1995. Joyce had a real love for life. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Her grandchildren were especially dear to her. Joyce had an artistic flair. Her curio cabinets held the most beautiful Barbies that Joyce outfitted In lovely old fashioned dresses that she hand crocheted, with hairstyles also exquisitely crafted by Joyce. Needlepoint and crossstitch are also crafts that Joyce excelled at. Joyce delighted in many fun adventures with her siblings. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Margaret, and attending dances with Margaret and Kenneth. More recently, she had lots of fun girltime visits with her sister Val and niece Susie, and daughters Marsha and Mary. Joyce is survived by her children; Doug(Linda) Bush, Gale(Betty) Bush, Mary (Mark) Rivera, Marsha Tracy, Mike (Brenda) Tracy, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, her sister Velma Smitherman, her brother Charles Hetherington, and a large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friend Jack. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Winifred and Vern Hetherington; her son Bill in 1994, her son Steve in 2001, her brothers Ken Hetherington, Jerry Hetherington, Don Hetherington, and Harold Hetherington; and her sister Margaret Miller. Due to Covid19, there are no plans for a memorial at this time.
