Marlene May Hale 82 of Ithaca died Wednesday. Feb 11. 2015, at her home in Emerson Township with her beloved family at her side. She was born June 4, 1932 to V. J. and Lelia(Bailey) Wood, in Alma. She married Hubert Hale Dec 7, 1951, in Ithaca. She loved cooking and baking for her family, friends and church.
She was employed at Wolverine for over 20 years and also worked at the Ranch House as cook for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. she also enjoyed her church family at the Ithaca Wesleyan Church where she helped organize and founded the music jamboree as well as making pies for the jamboree. She also took great pride in taking care of renting the Ithaca Wesleyan Church hall to the community for many years.
She is survived by her children, Cathy (Darren) Musil of Alma, Marci (Mike) Browne of Sumner, Connie (Jeff) Conklin of Georgia, Tom (Terry) Hale of Ithaca, Ken (Mindy) Hale of Ithaca; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Lee Hale, granddaughter, Kristal Leigh Hale; grandson Jacob Hyde; great-granddaughter Kaylee Marie Allen; two brothers, Owen Wood and Lawrence Wood.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 14, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Doug Strait officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 13. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ithaca Wesleyan Church, Great Lakes Hospice in St Johns or to Ithaca Rescue.
