Katlynn Rene Seeley

Katlynn R. Seeley, age 26 of Ithaca, passed away May 8, 2018 at Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Katlynn was born December 20, 1991 to Doug and Christine Seeley at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah. She graduated with the class of 2010 from St. Louis High School.

Katlynn was a survivor. Despite her battling a longtime illness, her theme for this year was “Joy”. She was feisty and sassy, but also very loving. She made friends easily and had a large support group as a result. People were drawn to the light they saw in her.

Katlynn was also very driven. She would decided what she wanted and would go for it, not letting anything get in her way. She was adventurous and loved to travel. She traveled across the United States, and traveled with mission groups to Mexico and the Bronx in New York City. She also worked with church camps during the summer when her health permitted. Katlynn had a goal of traveling to Europe.

Katlynn loved watching Netflix, crocheting, Starbucks and Biggby coffee, and her dog Maggie.  She will be remembered for her solid faith in God, her love of helping people, and her dry twisted sense of humor.

Katlynn is survived by her parents Doug (Melissa) Seeley of Ithaca and Christine Seeley (Mike Hutchinson) of Sumner; her brothers and sisters Nicholas, Bre-Rose, Jessica, William, Hunter, Jasmine, James, and Timothy; her grandparents Richard and Diane Seeley; and step grandparents Roger and Kathy Boulis.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother Betty Ann Ostrander, grandfather Roy Catlin, and great grandmother Rozalie Ostrander.

A celebration of Katlynn’s life will be held at 4pm May 19, 2018, at the St. Louis Church of Christ in St. Louis, Michigan. Pastor Joe Bell of Parkside Assembly will officiate. Because of Katlynn’s love of the colorful, please do not wear black to the celebration.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family for a memorial garden for Kate, Project Koru (www.projectkoru.org), Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation (www.cassiehinesshoescancer.org), the Office of Human Services in St. Louis, or to Pregnancy Services of Gratiot County.

The family is being served by the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.

I had the privilege of getting to know Katlynn (Stitch) in my role as camp doctor at our survivors camp. I admired her for her tenacity and outgoing personality, and her ability to stay focused on what was ahead, despite all the struggles she had gone through. She was loved by everyone at camp, and I know we are all grieving her loss. Condolences to her family.
