Dallas Julian Sulzmann, Sr.

Dallas Julian Sulzmann, Sr., age 62, of Wheeler, died on May 11, 2018.

He was born on April 16, 1956, the son of William and Ruth (Childs) Sulzmann in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan.  He is married to Jennifer (Thomas) Sulzmann.

Dallas worked as a fork lift driver at GM Auto Manufacturing for 42 years.   He enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting, fishing, farming, and riding his Harley.  He participated in many walleye tournaments, and was a very successful fisherman. Dallas enjoyed putting on a fish fry, but even more loved watching his friends and family enjoy the fish he caught.  He loved life and meeting new people.  He took pride in everything he did, and it was evident in his home on Barry Road.  He especially loved his grandchildren and family.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his children, Jennifer (Adam) Osmun of Howell, and Dallas Jr. (Veronica) Sulzmann of Swartz Creek; stepchildren,           Janie Mills of Mt. Pleasant, Ryan Mills of Ithaca, Cora (Todd) Pavlik of St. Louis, Willis (Jessica) Strouse of Eagle River, Alaska, and Elizabeth (Shawn) Heady of Tacoma, WA.; his grandchildren: Samuel and Evelyn Osmun; 11 step grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Roxanne (John) Charron of Linden, Deborah (Tom) Felisky of Orlando, FL, Sally (Steve) Nicander of Flint, James Sulzmann and Michael Sulzmann of Flint.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 1pm at the Edgewood Church of God, with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating.  Visitation will be at the church from 12pm to time of service.  There will be a luncheon following the funeral.  Memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot County Animal Shelter.

Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.

I am praying for your family during this difficult time of sorrow. My heart was broken when I heard the news. Dallas was a fellow UAW brother. Never have I met a kinder person in my 11 years with GM. I will miss our talks about fishing, hunting, and dogs. I will miss the sweet corn and cherry tomatoes he would bring to me. He helped give me a jump start on a day with a -18 degree wind chill. He was nothing short of amazing. Heaven gained an angel.
