Laura Belle Orlowski

Laura B. Orlowski, age 82, of Ithaca, died Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Rosewood AFC.

Laura was born August 8, 1935 in Chesaning, the daughter of Leslie and Ada (Wing) Street.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University, and on August 9, 1958 married Joseph W. Orlowski in Chesaning.

Laura taught at Ashley elementary school for 26 years before she retired.  She loved to spend summers up at Higgins Lake.  While her children were growing up she was very involved with their activities, teaching sunday school, and serving as a Den Mother in Cub Scouts.  She enjoyed doing hand crafts such as sewing and making cut glass crafts. She truly loved her family, and would do anything for her grandchildren.

Laura is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joe; her children, Greg (Michelle) Orlowski of Dewitt, Steve Orlowski of Higgins Lake, and Laurie (Kim) Heimberger of Alma; and her grandchildren, Brian Heimberger, Sarah Heimberger, Emily Orlowski, and Jenny Orlowski.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Elaine Fischer and Lois Sohlden.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 15, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Gary Simmons officiating.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the start of the service. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.bardenfuneralhome.com.

All of my memories of Laura Orlowski are of a sweet, lovely, caring, joyful, and giving woman who genuinely loved her family and was gracious, kind, and friendly to everyone.
