Janet M. Moreno

Janet M. Moreno, age 63, of Stanton, was called home by the Lord’s precious grace on August 24, 2017.

Janet was the first born child to Dub and Phyllis Martin on January 19, 1954.  She was preceded in death by both parents.  She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Cosme Damian Moreno, who has been a blessing in her life beyond words.  She is also survived by her daughter Sara, and son-in-law, Mario, who resides in Florida; her son, Matt Ritter (Kelsey Vermarris) of Sheridan; and her sons, Matt and Cameron Moreno; her loving sisters Dawn (John) Thompson and Susan Simons, both of Rockford, and Vicky Martin (Mark McGann of Florida; her grandchildren, Brandy, Hallee, Mario, Jr., and Gracie; and her great granddaughter, Mariah Lopez; and her nephews Adam (Tania) Simons of N.C. and Ben (Jeanette) Thompson of Rockford.

Janet received her diploma from Central Montcalm High School, her Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University, and her Masters degree in education from University of Phoenix.  She had been pursuing her PhD up until the time of her death.

Janet was a strong Christian woman who always put Christ first.  She loved children and was known as grandma in her neighborhood.  She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and loved weekend trips for the girls to Houghton Lake.  We will miss her and we are thankful for her love and faith.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the first Baptist Church in Stanton.  The family will receive friends from Noon until 1 p.m.

I hate that part of my childhood has passed away. Even though I know she is in a better place and laughing. Loved her and miss her so much, I would rather she was here with us, even though we did not see each other as much, as I believe we would have liked to. I plan on coming to her celebration of life. Dawn, Suzy or Vicki, please email me,, love you all. Kathy
