Arthur A. Lane

Arthur Alden Lane, age 89, of Ithaca, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Laurels of Carson.

Arthur was born April 29, 1927 in New Haven Township, the son of Arlo and Laura (Davis) Lane.  He married Josephine Smaltz on May 3, 1947.  She preceded him in death on December 6, 2008.

Art joined the Army at the end of WWII.  He worked for General Motors for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and his family.

Art is survived his sons, Dick (Mary) Lane of Chapell, NM, Rod (Janet) Lane of Perrinton, Pat (Sue) Lane of Pompeii; his daughter-in-law, Peggy Lane of Bridgeville;his daughter, Melanie (Barney) Barnett of Grove City, OH; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; his son, Terry; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February  22, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca, with Pastor Dana Lane officiating.  Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.
