Ian Andrew O’Hara, age 9, of Ithaca, passed away July 14, 2016 at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.

A long time ago in a galaxy far away, Ian was born October 4, 2006, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Mark Andrew and Tina L. (Caldwell) O’Hara.

The world just lost a gem. Ian was a caring, loving, polite boy who would stand up for those being bullied. Ian loved Star Wars, Marvel comics, and playing Minecraft.  He had a love-hate relationship with his doggie, Thor. Ian loved his hospital and the staff there. He was able to know and love his bone marrow donor, Brian “Hawk” Logan in Yuma, Arizona.

Ian is survived by his parents, Mark and Tina of Ithaca; siblings, Anna Caldwell of Howard City, and Kimberly and Lochlan O’Hara of Ithaca; grandparents, Michelle and Rick O’Hara of Ithaca, Annette Caldwell (Patrick) De Jong of Howard City; and Curtis Drent; great grandparents Marzella Hoard of Ithaca, Walt and Sandy Caldwell of Arkansas, and Bill and Sandy Drent of Sparta.

He was preceded in death by his great grandfather Milt Hoard.

10-4 Good Buddy.

Funeral services for Ian will be 11am Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca with Pastor George Showers officiating. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Monday, July 18 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to his family.
