Lowell S. “Bill” or “Shorty” Jarvis, age 80, of Sumner, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.

Bill was born November 23, 1934 in Millersburg, Michigan, the son of Elmer and Flora (Lincoln) Jarvis.  He went to high school in Onaway and then served in the US Army for seven years, being stationed in Korea and Italy.  He then worked in Texas for three years before moving back to Michigan.  He worked for Morbark for 32 years.  In 1964 he met his dear wife, Clara, and they were married in 1965.  They were together for 45 years and she moved to heaven in 2009.  God bless her.  They traveled through 36 states and had a wonderful time together.  He also enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors, and going to car shows and parades.  His special old car was his ’65 Chevy Impala, with which he won 32 trophies.

Shorty is survived by his step daughter, Phyllis Seaman, of Sumner; 3 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Janice Jarvis and Lorinda Duffiney; and his brother, Lee Jarvis.  He was preceded in death by his step son-in-law, Roger Seaman; his brothers, David and Rodney; and his sister, Laureldene.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 29 at the St. Louis Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Jake Gregory officiating.  Interment will be in Sumner Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Barden Funeral Home in Ithaca.
