Carlyle W. Bigelow, age 86, of Crystal, died November 24, 2014 at Laurel’s of Carson.
Carlyle was born on October 29, 1928, the son of William and Irene (Johnson) Bigelow in New Haven Township, Gratiot County, Michigan. He married Carrie Kienitz on November 29, 1958 in Wheeler, Michigan.
He served in the National Guard and later the Marine Corps. He was employed by Lobdell-Emery, where he worked for 45 1/2 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, hunting, and his dog, Bella.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie; his children: Constance (Keith) Evans of Sheridan, Catherine Hopkins of Fenwick, Thomas (Charlene) Bigelow of Riverdale; 17 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; his siblings: Virginia Cole of Breckenridge, Beverly (Lyndon) Fillard of Houghton Lake, Larry (Donna) Bigelow of Merrill, Janice (Gale) Devereaux of Sanford, Jean (John) Welch of Gladwin, Sharon (Donald) Ferguson of Zachary, Louisiana, and Terry (Sandra) Bigelow of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald, his daughter Cynthia Brooks, and granddaughter Lisa Evans.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the Barden Funeral Home in Stanton, with visitation prior to the service starting at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the Crystal Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s or Cancer organization of your choice.
