Dale “Pa” Sowles

Dale “Pa” Sowles, 78, of Stanton passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 in Sheridan.

Dale was born on February 11, 1934 in Blanchard to Floyd and Myrtle (Weatherbee) Sowles. Dale worked on the railroad with several brothers and learned to work on cars and tractors. On October 9, 1954 he married Maxine Chubb in Blanchard. They settled in Stanton, raising two daughters and took great pride and interest in their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dale worked for Knight’s Auto and owned Dale’s Auto Service for many years. He helped many people with his wrecker and auto repair skills. He enjoyed hunting (which included sleeping in his hunting shack), going to the casino, working on tractors, sitting under his shade tree drinking coffee and telling stories. He was a hard working man with a fun sense of humor. His family and friends were very important to him and they will all have many Dale sayings and stories to remember.

Dale is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maxine; his daughters, Debbie Sowles Corwin and Chick Sowles, both of Stanton; grandchildren, Heather Butler and Ryan Alexander; great grandchildren, Gunner, Fisher, Jerzey, and Kiara; his sister, Beverly Messmer ; brother, Merle (Rosie) Sowles; sister in law, Dorothy Sowles; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Dale was preceded in death by his parents; and 9 brothers and sisters.

A funeral celebration of Dale’s life will be held at the Barden Funeral Home, Stanton, on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Anthony Hoskey and Sharon Brooks will officiate. Visitation will also be held Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. For those desiring to do so, Memorial Contributions may be made to his family’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home

Aunt Maxine, I am so sorry about uncle Did, I will miss seeing him sitting under the tree and honking at him when I go by with the bus. I am out of state and will not be able to be there to say goodbye but you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Maxine, so sorry to hear about Dale. He was such a kind man & had a great sense of humor. We will miss hearing all those great stories he told. You & your family are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless! Ned & Connie Edwards
